Torgið hefur allt frá aldamótum 1900 verið vinsæll áningarstaður ungs fólks til að hittast á góðviðrisdögum. Það er ferhyrnt með byggingum á alla vegu, ein af mörgum garðavinjum í borgarlandslagi Berlínarborgar.

Verkið samanstendur af tveimur hlutum, tveggja rása vídeóverki tekið á göngu hringinn í kring um torgið, klippt út frá reglu aukastafa tölunnar pí, og safni 16 ljósmynda sem teknar eru með reglulegu millibili allt í kring um torgið.

[lgc_column grid=“50″ tablet_grid=“50″ mobile_grid=“100″ last=“true“]An introduction to a new work, a two channel video that is part of an installational ensemble  that is a structured examination of one of the most popular garden-squares in Berlin, Boxhagener Platz located in former East Berlin. The square has since the early 20th centurey been a popular meeting place where young people hang out and relax together in good weather. It is a square with buildings on all sides, one of the many constructed gardens in the midst of the metropolis.

The work is comprised of two parts; a 2 channel video projection made by walking round the square in both directions, edited in accordance with a series of numbers derived from the digits of hexadecimal pi; and a series of 16 photographs taken at regular intervals around the square itself.

Heiti verksins er það sama og nafn tjarnarinnnar Fennpfuhl, sem merkir „mýrartjörn“. Tjörnin er í grunninn náttúruleg og við hana hafa fundist mannvistarleifar eftir slavneska ættbálka sem bjuggu í nágrenni Berlínar á 10. öld. Tjörnin birtir þannig marglaga sjónræna og heyranlega þætti — hún er náttúra sem birtist í flóknu samspili gróðurs, vatns, söngs, og ljóss; hún birtir okkur líka spegilmyndir nútímahúsanna sem umkringja hana í allar áttir.

Vídeóhluti verksins er 2 rása vídeóverk þar sem gengið er meðfram tjörninni í báðar áttir, klippt út frá reglu sem byggir á aukastöfum tölunnar pí. [lgc_column grid=“50″ tablet_grid=“50″ mobile_grid=“100″ last=“true“]A work that is a representation of an ancient pond located in Britz in Neu-Kölln in the south of Berlin in Germany. The name of the work, Fennpfuhl, is the same as the name of the pond, meaning „a pond in the marsh“. The pond seems to be of a natural origin and on its banks there have been found archaelogical remains attributed to the slavic tribes living in the area before the year 1000. The pond thus presents us with a multilayered visual and auditory experience—it is natural in the chaos and complexity of fauna, water, song, and light; it also presents us with the dark mirror image of the modernist buildings that surround it on all sides.

The video part of the work is a 2 channel video projection made by walking round the pond in both directions, edited in accordance with a series of numbers derived from the digits of hexadecimal pi. In the exhibition copy the work is published as two 4K videos for projection side-by-side while the private display copy has the two channels combined in a single 4K video file. In addition to the video the work comprises a publication of 16 photographs that heve been taken in accordanc to a predefined plan all around the pond.

Nýtt vídeóverk fyrir 16 skjái, en þó skalanlegt fyrir 8, 4 eða jafnvel 1. Þetta eru 32 klippa dæmi, annarsvegar einnar rásar (rás 0) og hinsvegar 4 rása (rásir 0, 4, 8 og c) í verkinu. Verkið sjálft kemur til með að vera 256 klippur alls. Verkið er allt tekið frá 16 sjónarhornum í garði á milli þriggja gatna í Reykjavík, Bríetartúns, Laugavegs og Rauðarárstígs, í einu af ‘millirýmum’ borgarinnar. Lengd klippanna og stefna hreyfingar ræðst af pí-útreikningum í hexadesimal-kerfi.

A videowork for 1, 4, 8, or preferably 16 screens. This is a 32 clip version of the 4 screen version. The complete work is 256 clips in total. It is shot from 16 directions in an ‘interspace’ in Reykjavík, a sampling of un-designed culture and city-scape. The length and direction ofeach clip is governed by a calculation of ‘pi’ in hexadecimal notation.
